You should consider including the following capabilities:
1. Folded 11X17 sized sheets in reports.
2. Plastic folders or pockets for oversized figures.
3. Plastic pockets for DVDs or CDs that are included in reports.
4. A little better QA/QC on binder sizes. I recently ordered 3-inch D-ring binders and was given 4 or 5-inch binders which were way too large.

UK/EMEA Distribution
Posted on August 15, 2008 at 2:03am, written by pdettman
I really like Mimeo but I have noticed that the shipping rates to Europe are quite high, as they always are for printed papers due to weight. Are there any plans to establish a printing and distribution centre in Europe to reduce this cost and also improve shipping times?

Add lamination features and smaller size documents to the regular menu for use as job aids.
Add a binding feature similar to what some printers are doing with photo books today.

Where Did the Name Mimeo.com Come From?
Posted on August 11, 2008 at 10:10am, written by Jeff Grill, VP Marketing
One of the questions that I’m frequently asked is where the name “Mimeo” came from. The simple answer is that it is derived from the word Mimeograph and on this anniversary of its’ August 8, 1876 invention, I thought it only appropriate that we pay homage to this simple revolutionary printing device.
The Mimeograph was patented in 1876 by Thomas Edison. It actually came before his other renowned inventions including the light bulb and motion pictures. A Mimeograph works by using a stencil...read more

ASTD 2008 Recap
Posted on June 10, 2008 at 8:54am, written by Keith Miller, Director, Integrated Marketing
Doesn’t seem like an entire year has gone by since I wrote the ASTD 2007 recap post, but here I am reflecting on the 2008 show in San Diego. Probably more so than ever, our team was excited to get in front of the world’s top training and development professionals to showcase our new booth, our latest product Mimeo Marketplace, and to champion our new “think inside the box” philosophy. For those of you who missed the show, thinking inside the box refers to a change in mindset when it...read more

Printing, dealing with a recession?
Posted on May 1, 2008 at 10:55pm, written by Ali A
Hey there, I have been watching the stock market and the American economy for the past few months and it is obvious that the US is heading into, or already is in a recession. Looking at the companies that use Mimeo, I was just curious how this downfall in the economy is effecting the sales of printing.
I understand Mimeo is a private company and I’m not asking to release sales numbers, what I want to know is being a print company for companies like Delta and Google, does Mimeo see a boost in...read more

Improving Marketing Performance
Posted on March 17, 2008 at 3:55pm, written by Jeff Grill, VP Marketing
Great presentation by Jason Fried of 37 Signals at the South by Southwest conference on questions every person should ask before starting a project. It never ceases to amaze how many marketing or creative projects are requested without a clear understanding of the problem the project is going to solve and the impact it will have upon completion. I’m going to start every marketing meeting with the list in mind.
Here are the questions:
Why are we doing this?
What problem are we solving?

On Demand Conference & Exposition - Highlights
Posted on March 5, 2008 at 11:08am, written by Jeff Grill, VP Marketing
The On Demand Conference and Exposition (March 3 - 6 2008 in Boston) has been my home for the last several days.
It’s striking how the printing industry is undergoing dramatic change with the transition from traditional offset printing to digital. For those not intimately familiar with offset vs. digital, offset presses produce large quantities of printed materials at relatively low cost. It requires long lead times and standardization of message. Think about 1 million plus direct mail...read more

The Power of Free
Posted on February 29, 2008 at 5:08pm, written by Jeff Grill, VP Marketing
Great article in this months Wired magazine on the power of “Free” in promoting your business. Chris Anderson makes the case that everything digital eventually approaches “free” to the point that new business models can emerge. The best example is Google search where the product’s utility is free and then the traffic is monetized. Another example would be to give your product away for free such as someone that sends you a free sample, in the hope that replenishing a mop (think swifter) or...read more

Cool Marketing Idea
Posted on February 25, 2008 at 1:28am, written by Ali A
Hey there.. I think Mimeo can really build brand awareness by pasting floor graphics on the busy sidewalk of the financial district in New York with pictures of bound documents that read #1, #2, #3 all the way to #1000 of the same document ... and lead to a big floor advertisement that reads something like, 1 print, or a 1000 .. print online, overnight delivery ....
Just an idea. Cheap and effective and makes people read the floors as they go to work and make sure the ad passes right by the...read more

Every industry has a conversation that takes place everyday. That conversation or narrative is promoted via the media, blogs and in our conversations with colleagues. One of the goals for marketing is to make sure that the product or solution you are selling always appears to be a viable solution for any issues that are being discussed.
Taking my own advice to heart, I put together an industry event for marketers and advertisers called Advertising Club of New York Meetup sponsored by read more

Hi there, thanks for stopping by. I like to think of the Lounge as a virtual living room where all of us at Mimeo can connect with the most important people we know—our customers—and where they can connect with each other.
Mimeo has always been driven to explore, innovate, and be the first to bring people the “next best thing”. And that’s how we see our customers, too. We all want to do more, move faster, and constantly be creating better tools for the way we work.

Country on my Mind
Posted on November 13, 2007 at 3:45pm, written by Jeff Grill, VP Marketing
I used to hate country music. To someone that grew up on Long Island, “country” was that music sung by people with funny hats, odd accents, and instruments that aren’t found in the school marching band. Of all the radio stations in town the one with the country format was sure to be the one that would be announcing a format change in 6 months.
Recently something changed. The songs that used to sound odd, now sound mainstream, and the artists that dominate “pop” just appear odd. With...read more

Good Loyalty vs. Bad

We are in the process of improving the way we communicate with our customers knowing that the reaction of 99.9% of customers is not “please send me more email so my inbox is always full.” Rest assured that we are only going to communicate on the terms specified by our customers. Individuals must opt in and we will make sure that at least to us, each communication is worth the time spent opening, reading and reacting (I like to use the benchmark, would the reader pay $1 for each email we send...read more

Agile Product Development and Google

It was interesting to read about Google’s approach to agile product development in the Sunday New York Times article titled “The Google Way: Give Engineers Room” by Bharat Mediratta; as told to Julie Bick. One of the struggles in product management is the delicate balance between the need for detailed requirements and the desire of the organization to move quickly. Provide too much definition and the project bogs down in paperwork; provide too little and the development team uses their point...read more

The Impact of Culture on the Company

Part of my job is attending many of the conferences that we sponsor. In addition to the obvious opportunity to meet with prospects and customers, it gives me a rare glimpse into the workings of multiple industries. One theme that struck me at the recent Selling Power (sales and marketing executives) and CLO (Chief Learning Officer) conferences is the amount of discussion on company culture and its role in attracting talent and driving progress.
The ability of culture to be a unique...read more

Web 2.0 for the Rest of Us
Posted on October 10, 2007 at 8:50am, written by Jeff Grill, VP Marketing
While the technology elite believe we are moving on to Web 3.0 (the intelligent web where we move from searching to finding), most of us are just discovering Web 2.0. Case in point, the learning and development profession and their millions of students/employees.
The other night I was reading Marc Andreessen’s blog about all the whining (ok not everyone, but lots of people) around the end of the new technology bubble, while at the same time thinking back to the recent CLO conference in...read more

Mimeo and Environmentally Friendly Diapers
Posted on October 4, 2007 at 10:57am, written by Keith Miller, Director, Integrated Marketing
When you think Mimeo, I bet you don’t also think environmentally friendly diapers, right? Neither did we, until this post from Jason at gDiapers showed up a few months back. This is a classic example of the power of the blogging community. Jason blogged about a negative experience he had with FedEx Kinkos. Jeff Grill, our VP Marketing, reached out through a comment and offered up Mimeo as an alternative, suggesting he take a free trial. Jason happily accepted, had a great experience,...read more
