Printing for International Markets – Set Your PC Up for A4

A4 sized paper and printing is the standard in most of the world (in North America letter size (8.5” x 11”) is the standard). When printing A4 documents, be sure to temporarily set the software you are using to A4 by following the steps below. To permanently change to A4 follow the directions at the bottom of this page.

Step 1 - Setting Microsoft Office Programs to A4:

1. Click “Print”

2. Select “Mimeo” as the printer

3. Click “Properties”

4. Click “Advanced”

5. Change the paper size to “A4” in the drop down menu

Step 2 - Set the Paper Size in Microsoft Office to A4:

Microsoft Word 2007 (shown above)
1. Select “Page Layout” from the top navigation menu
2. Click on “Size”
3. Select “A4” from the list of size options

Microsoft PowerPoint 2007
1. Select “Design” from the top navigation menu
2. Click on “Page Setup”
3. Change paper size to “A4” and click “OK”

How do you know You Did it Right?

The new “Dimensions” column in the Mimeo Print Driver will tell you the paper size output of your uploaded document (8.5 x 11.0 for letter; 8.3 x 11.7 for A4).

To change the paper size permanently in the PC without having Office change it back to letter every time you start your computer, follow these steps:

1. Click the Windows “Start” button then select “Control Panel”
2. Select “Printers and Faxes” (Windows XP) or “Printers” (Windows Vista)
3. Select the “Mimeo” printer and then click the “Select printing preferences” link
4. Click the “Advanced…” button
5. Change the paper size and click the “OK” button
