PowerPoint Presentation Tips

Posted on October 7, 2008 at 8:58am, written by Jeff Grill, VP Marketing

Seth Godin has published some good tips on how to keep PowerPoint presentations interesting.  His points include:

- Buy your own font to stand out.  He recommends buying one from the site Smashing Magazine.

- More ideas, fewer words

- Don’t use bullets, it means that people should take notes and not look at you.  Of course at Mimeo.com we suggest printed handouts so that people can be reminded of the presentation after it is over and of course they will not have to take notes.

- Keep it short

My own personal favorite guidelines are written by Guy Kawasaki and summarized on my blog The Rogue Marketer, The rule is simply 10 slides, 20 minute presentation, 30 point type.

If you want to see what would happen to PowerPoint in web 2.0, be sure to check out SlideRocket.  With real time data feeds, sharp graphics and an intuitive interface, this service might be the PowerPoint of the next 10 years.
