Mimeo and Environmentally Friendly Diapers

When you think Mimeo, I bet you don’t also think environmentally friendly diapers, right? Neither did we, until this post from Jason at gDiapers showed up a few months back. This is a classic example of the power of the blogging community. Jason blogged about a negative experience he had with FedEx Kinkos. Jeff Grill, our VP Marketing, reached out through a comment and offered up Mimeo as an alternative, suggesting he take a free trial. Jason happily accepted, had a great experience, and was nice enough to show us a little love in a follow-up post found here. Nice little story right? But it gets better. A week or so later we noticed an order come through from Blueberry Diapers. After a little digging, we realized Blueberry first stumbled upon the Mimeo website from a link on the gDiapers blog. Then a week or so after that, we received another order from an environmentally friendly baby products company, also originating from the gDiapers blog.
What does this all mean? First off, the environmentally friendly diaper community is collectively suffering from painful print jobs. And two, the power of word-of-mouth marketing is more powerful than ever in a digital world.
So Jason from gDiapers… if you’re reading this, let us know the next time you’re in New York. We owe you dinner (or we can at least send you a Mimeo t-shirt).
And to all reading this post, check out the gDiapers website here. It’s a great concept, and we really owe Jason some referrals!
