Mimeo.com Takes Over ASTD 2007

Missed us at the ASTD 2007 show in Atlanta this year? Here’s a video recap. At ASTD 2006, we went with the “Be Clown Free” theme. This year, we decided to mix it up a bit with “Mimeo to the Rescue”. Conference participants were given a lifeguard whistle and a pass for a free t-shirt on day one of the conference. In order to redeem the pass, participants had to come by the Mimeo booth and blow their whistles. We went through over 2,000 t-shirts in the first 4 hours of the show (much to the chagrin of those manning the surrounding booths...2,000 whistle blows is a lot of noise!). Along with their t-shirt, conference goers were given a VIP pass, allowing them access to the Mimeo Rescue Lounge. Because lets face it… conferences like ASTD are packed with great vendors and informative sessions, but the lack of seating on the expo floor and mystery box lunches leave you craving something a bit more edible and a place to relax. That’s where the Rescue Lounge came in; a private room filled with plush couches, massage therapists, smoothie machines, cookies and ice cream.
On day two of the conference, anyone seen wearing their free Rescue Me t-shirt on the expo floor by our Secret Spotter (thanks again to our CIO Scott Manner for doing a great job) was rewarded with a Mimeo beach bag...filled with a Mimeo beach towel, a water bottle, and an ipod. As you’ll see from the video, people tried everything from a little impromptu singing to fully choreographed dance routines to get spotted. And then if they were spotted… well, they got a little crazy. The the best post-ipod-win celebration was a no-brainer this year. We’ll post the complete celebration in separate post. Trust us, this guy deserves his own post.
All and all, the conference was a great success. It was a pleasure to have an opportunity to introduce the Mimeo service to some of you that had never used us before, and even better to get to rub elbows with some of our current customers. Your enthusiasm for our service and our brand is invigorating!
Only 313 days till ASTD 2008 in San Diego. Maybe next year we’ll give out 200 iphones. What do you think?
