ASTD 2008 Recap

Doesn’t seem like an entire year has gone by since I wrote the ASTD 2007 recap post, but here I am reflecting on the 2008 show in San Diego.  Probably more so than ever, our team was excited to get in front of the world’s top training and development professionals to showcase our new booth, our latest product Mimeo Marketplace, and to champion our new “think inside the box” philosophy.  For those of you who missed the show, thinking inside the box refers to a change in mindset when it comes to ordering printed material for the classroom.  Lots of you already use Mimeo to order your bound printed material like facilitator guides, workbooks and training binders, but few take advantage of our ability to print name tags, tent cards, brochures, laminated learning aids, posters, duplicate cd/dvds...and kit it altogether into one ready to go classroom kit for you or your students.  No need to use multiple vendors, all sending you separate printed material; all your materials show up “inside the box” from Mimeo.

In addition to having a great time on the trade show floor giving away over a 1,000 t-shirts and 100 Classroom-in-a-Box kits complete with ipod, we had the opportunity to hold a private dinner at the San Diego Zoo for 85 guests.  With senior training and development professionals from over 35% of the Fortune 500, it was a special evening of networking, private animal showings (see pictures in the gallery section on the Lounge homepage), and good food and drink.  We hope that all of our guests enjoyed the night as much as we did.

We encourage you to use the Lounge as a way to continue some of the great dialog we had on the trade show floor and at the dinner.  Post questions for us or your peers, share links to your photos from the show, etc. 

Oh...and this gentleman still holds the title of best post ipod win celebration.  Perhaps someone will dethrone him in 2009.  See you all in DC.
